AWESOME SONG OF THE DAY 7 - VINUSHKA

Definitely one of Dir En Grey's best; the subtle ebb and flow between soft and harsh vocals really makes this song. Their new ventures into heaviness don't always work, but this song displays Dir En Grey succeeding magnificently, creating one of their strongest and memorable tracks.

I see Uroboros as one of their best albums; a powerful blend of their old and new sounds. This new sound is easily epitomised by this track.

DISCUSSION - DIR EN GREY

Ok not much news today so I thought I'd bring out a big discussion point for all of you. What is your opinion of Dir En Grey's evolution and their current sound? Are you digging it or do you favour their older sound/s?

Personally I'm not too much of a fan of their current sound. 'Rinkaku' shows some promise and indeed a few songs from Dum Spiro Spero really impressed me. However, I very rarely listen to that album in comparison to, say, Macabre or Vulgar. I love heavy music but I found DSS to be a bit...sludgy at times. 

I definitely prefer their older releases due to the accessibility and replay value, and yet Uroboros is definitely my favourite from them as it's a great fusion of their old and new sounds. In fact, I like all of their releases wholeheartedly except their latest album. It's not bad, but it's not great (my opinion of course). Despite the overall negative opinion of The Marrow Of A Bone, I even prefer this album toDSS as it merely builds on what was present on Withering To Death.

Dir En Grey are a band which constantly evolve; no two albums are alike. Although I'm not a fan of their current sound, 'Rinkaku' displays a step in the right direction. Hopefully their upcoming EP will further support this.
